A new star is born - Harry Kane
Harry Kane, 21 years-old Tottenham player, played great against Arsenal in the North London derby, scored two goals and overnight became a star. He has already scored 22 goals for his team in all competition in this season and put the first-choice strikers Soldado and Adebayor out on the bench. Kane was double scorer against Chelsea and West Ham too, but after the victory over Arsenal his name echoed and stirred football experts.
Kane made his senior debut for Tottenham in August 2011 in a UEFA Europa League game against Hearts. Kane has been loaned to League One team Leyton Orient, Championship Division teams Millwall and Leicester City and Premier League side Norwich City, but that was unpromising loan spells. He has represented England at the U17, U19, U20 and U21 levels, also without remarkable results. Even Arsene Wenger, who follows young talented players and recruited them commented about him:
"I didn't know him. Maybe unexpectedly for Tottenham, but he suddenly looks to grow at a very high speed. When you think that you have Soldado out on the bench, and Adebayor not even considered, that shows you the stature he has taken in this team. He is not only quality, but hard-working as well."
It is interesting fact that Kane celebrated Arsenal title in 2004 as young 10 years old boy, was part of Arsenal youth team for one year and now scores two goals against them in his first derby match.
Kane said about that:
"I wanted to wear a Tottenham kit but I don't think that would've gone down to well. I was eight-years-old. I was at Arsenal for a year and obviously I was a kid, I just wanted to play football. I've been at Spurs since I was 11-years-old, always loved the club. I've been here 10 years and hopefully many more years to come."
The Gunners' manager Arsene Wenger said England should select Kane for the national team, while former England international Murphy added: "Not just selected, but build the team around him. He's so young, but he's so powerful."
Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino also commented in superlatives for Harry Kane after great victory over Arsenal:
"Harry showed today that he is a great player, with a great performance, but my idea is that he can improve still and we need to push him to develop his potential because his potential is massive, but it was a fantastic performance today."
Kane is also happy after this performances and said:
"It's my first north London derby and it was incredible. I watched so many as a kid and the feeling now is one I can't describe and won't forget. I'm happy for the team and the club. It is a special day. I am working on all aspects of my game and when I get in those areas I am confident. I am enjoying my football at the moment and playing with a smile on my face."
It is uncertain if Roy Hodgson will select Kane for the next England game in March, but for sure he will bring a lot of great performances for the Spurs.
