Martin Odegaard signed a contract with Real Madrid
Martin Odegaard, the 16-year-old Norwegian football player, signed for Real Madrid. The Spanish media reported they had agreed to pay around £2.3million and his weak's salary will be £80,000. It's making him the highest paid under-19 player in the World.
He made his debut for Stromsgodset on 13 April 2014 and became the youngest player to play in the Tippeligaen, as so the youngest goalscorer. He scored five goals for Stromsgodset. Odegaard also holds the record for the youngest debutant for Norwegian senior national team at the age of 15 years and 253 days. He also played his first competitive international match in the UEFA Euro qualifications against Bulgaria. His name was connected with Manchester United, Liverpool, Barcelona and Bayern Munich as possible transfer option. Even more, Martin Odegaard and his family are Reds' fans, so Liverpool fans were hoping to see him at Anfield. Nevertheless, his play-maker's precocious talent will be use in Real Madrid. Martin Odegaard said about that:
"It’s a dream come true, it’s unbelievable and it’s incredible. I’m ready for the best club in the world - it’s an honor."
Odegaard will train with Real Madrid B' side Castilla for the rest of season, but he'll also be available for the first-team too. Zinedine Zidane, a football legend, managed with B-team. Martin commented about that:
"I felt this was the best option, that I can develop here in the best way from a sporting and personal perspective. I want to be the best player that I can be, and it's not important whether I'm in the first or second team. I'll be honored if Ancelotti calls me up to play. It's an advantage that Real Madrid have a good second side that is trained by someone who was one of the world's best."
The biggest Real's star Christiano Ronaldo, who is the only player ever to play for Sporting's under 16, under 17, under 18, B-team and the first team, all within one season, said about Odegaard:
"He is a young boy who can still grow - he's 16 years old. He has a good future. We must give him time to learn and to make the best decisions, but I see a lot of potential in the player."
Interesting, Odegaard’s footballing hero is not Ronaldo, but Lionel Messi. The teenager is also left-footed and has drawn comparisons to Messi for his style of play. I've already wrote Odegaard is a Liverpool fan and he spent a spell on trial with them before the New Year. But most probably he will change these facts after a deal with Real Madrid.
A lot of comments were about if Real Madrid is right choice for Odegaard at this age. Ajax or Southampton are known for producing great players through their youth selections and maybe it will be better option for his development. It shows up information that Celtic could sign Martin Odegaard on loan. A lot of pressure was over the youngster Martin Odegaard in the last period, but he should use to it if he wants to become big star. Real's manager Carlo Ancelotti has described him as "a kid with talent and personality".
