Right then, let's have a proper gander at this La Liga clash between Barcelona and Alaves. The lads from Barcelona are sitting pretty in 2nd place with 31 points, while Alaves are down in 14th with just 15 - that's a proper gap in quality, ain't it? Barcelona's recent form has been a bit up and down, to be honest. Five wins, one draw, and four losses in their last ten games. They've been scoring for fun at home though - banging in 3.2 goals per game on their own patch. That 4-0 thumping of Athletic Club shows what they can do when they're on song. But here's the kicker - they've only kept ONE clean sheet in their last ten games! Their defense is leakier than a sieve, mate. Alaves, bless 'em, are having a right old struggle. Three wins, two draws, and five losses recently. Away from home they're proper dodgy with only a 20% win rate. They don't score many (1.6 per game away) but are surprisingly solid defensively, conceding just 0.8 goals per game on their travels. Recent 0-1 losses to Celta Vigo and Girona show they're struggling to find the net. The head-to-head tells a story - Barcelona have won 7 out of 9 meetings against Alaves and have never lost to them. But here's where it gets interesting for us punters. Barcelona's home attack is lethal (3.2 goals per game), but their defense is shocking. Alaves, while not prolific, do score away from home and are decent defensively. Looking at the stats, Barcelona have both teams scoring in 80% of their recent games. That's massive! Alaves have it in 40% of theirs. Given Barcelona's defensive nightmares and their attacking prowess at home, I reckon both teams will get on the scoresheet here. The odds for Both Teams to Score - Yes are sitting at 1.80, which looks decent value to me. Barcelona will almost certainly score at home (they always do), but with that dodgy defense, Alaves might just nick one. It's more fun than just backing the home win at 1.22, and the stats back it up nicely.
