The force is strong with Cobh Ramblers at home, you see. Seven wins, seven draws, six losses across their last 20 home games — a record that speaks of a team comfortable on their own patch. And comfort, young one, is a weapon sharper than any lightsaber.
Kerry, meanwhile, travel with a shadow over their away record. Four wins, four draws, twelve losses in 20 away games. Twelve losses. That is a number that whispers of vulnerability on the road. They concede 1.85 per game away, and in their last five matches, they have scored just four goals. The force is not with them on the journey, I tell you.
The recent meetings tell a story of two sides that know each other well. Three times within the last 12 months, these clubs have met. At Cobh Ramblers' ground — this very ground — the hosts won 2–0 in May. At Kerry's ground, Kerry took a 3–0 victory at home in August, but before that, Cobh Ramblers had won 2–1 away in April. The most recent meeting was a Kerry win, yes, but that was on their own soil. Here, at Cobh Ramblers' ground, the hosts hold the edge in the recent record.
Cobh Ramblers arrive in good rhythm. Two wins, two draws, one loss in their last five. They scored 12 goals in that span — 2.4 per game — and in every one of those five matches, both teams found the net. Their last outing was a 4–1 away victory at Bray Wanderers, a performance that showed the fire still burns. At home, they have scored 1.35 per game and conceded 1.15 across 20 fixtures, with 7 clean sheets to their name.
Kerry, on the other hand, have won their last two — a 2–1 away at Finn Harps and a 1–0 at home to Wexford. But look closer, and you see the pattern. In those last five, they failed to score in two of them. Four of their last five matches saw at least one team shut out. The goals come in thin drips, not in floods. Away from home, they have failed to score in 6 of their last 20 games.
The counter-argument, and I must honour it, is this: Kerry won the most recent head-to-head, 3–0 at their ground in August. They are on a two-game winning run. And the market prices them at 32.68% — not a negligible chance. A team that has just beaten Finn Harps away and Wexford at home is not a team to dismiss lightly.
But the numbers, young one, do not lie. Cobh Ramblers' home record outpaces Kerry's away record in every meaningful measure. Points per game: 1.4 to 0.8. Goals scored per game: 1.35 to 1.1. Goals conceded per game: 1.15 to 1.85. The difference is clear, and it is the kind of gap that, in the words of a certain wise old Jedi, is "a lot of ground to cover."
Key Points:
- Cobh Ramblers: 7W 7D 6L in 20 home games; Kerry: 4W 4D 12L in 20 away games
- Cobh Ramblers scored 2.4 per game in their last 5; Kerry scored 0.8 per game
- Only recent meeting at Cobh Ramblers' ground: 2–0 to the hosts (May 2026)
- Kerry failed to score in 2 of their last 5 matches
- Cobh Ramblers won their last match (4–1 at Bray Wanderers); Kerry won their last 2
The force is with the hosts. I recommend a home win for Cobh Ramblers.
