The Big "O"TSV Hartberg have been absolutely dripping with goals lately, and that's exactly the sort of fixture that makes The Big O sit up and take notice. Five games, five times over 2.5 — not a single one of their last five matches has been a low-scoring affair. They've scored 14 and conceded 8 in that stretch, which is the kind of open, end-to-end football I live for.
The home record at Hartberg's ground backs this up. Over their last 20 home games, they've scored 1.6 per game and conceded 1.45, and 9 of those 20 went over 2.5. That's a venue that produces goals, and it's where Austria Lustenau are heading on 11 October.
Now, Lustenau's away record tells a different story on the defensive end. Over 20 away games, they've conceded 1.2 per game, which is actually lower than Hartberg's home concession rate. But their scoring output on the road is modest — 1.2 per game — and in their last five matches they've failed to score in two of them, including a 0–1 loss to FC Schalke 04 just eight days before kickoff. Their current run is a loss, and that 0–1 scoreline is the kind of quiet game I'd rather avoid.
The head-to-head here is dated — the most recent meeting was back in October 2024, a 0–3 Hartberg win in a cup tie. There's no meeting within the last 12 months, so I'm leaning entirely on current form and the home/away records. What those records show is a Hartberg side that scores freely at home against a Lustenau side that struggles to find goals on the road.
The xG numbers add another layer. Opponents have been scoring at a rate of 2.02 per game against Hartberg in recent matches, which tells you the Hartberg defence is open enough to let goals through. Lustenau's own attacking output, meanwhile, sits at 1.17 per game — modest, but not nothing. The goals per game at Hartberg's ground (1.6 scored, 1.45 conceded) are noticeably higher than what Lustenau produce on their travels (1.2 scored, 1.2 conceded), and that combination of an open home defence and a visiting side that does score (even if modestly) points toward goals.
The counter-argument? Lustenau's away defence is actually tighter than Hartberg's home defence on the numbers — 1.2 conceded per game away versus 1.45 at Hartberg's ground. And Lustenau's last five games saw under 2.5 in two of them. There's a case for a tight, low-scoring affair if Hartberg's attack goes quiet. But five straight over-2.5 games is a hard trend to ignore, and the market is pricing this at 54.64% for over 2.5, which I think undersells the goal potential here.
Key Points:
- TSV Hartberg's last five matches all finished with three or more goals (5/5 over 2.5)
- Hartberg's home record: 1.6 scored per game, 1.45 conceded per game over 20 games
- Austria Lustenau score just 1.2 per game away and failed to score in 2 of their last 5
- Head-to-head is historical (last meeting October 2024); current form and venue records dominate
- Combined scoring rates and xG data point to a total comfortably above 2.5
The Big O's verdict: Over 2.5 goals.
