Mr SimpleSeattle Sounders are looking to bounce back from a 0-1 slip at FC Dallas three days ago, and the numbers suggest they've got plenty of bounce in them. Four wins from their last five, 10 goals scored and just 3 conceded — that's a side in serious form. And at home, it's been even better: 2-1 over Sporting Kansas City, 3-1 past Minnesota United, 2-0 to Real Salt Lake in their last three home games. Over 20 home fixtures, they've won 12, drawn 3 and lost 5, scoring 1.9 a game. That's a side that knows how to win on their own patch.
CF Montreal, on the other hand, are having a rough time. They've lost their last two — a 0-3 home defeat to Atlanta United and a 1-2 loss at Toronto — and in those two games they've managed just one goal and conceded five. Their away record over 20 games is 4 wins, 2 draws and 14 losses, with 2.5 goals conceded per game. That's not a side that travels well, and the xG data backs it up: Montreal have been outperformed at a rate of 1.81 xG against per game across their last five, with 16 actual goals conceded in that stretch.
The head-to-head here is dated — no meetings in the last 12 months — so we're leaning on current form and venue records. The older meetings at Seattle's ground (3 of them) saw the Sounders win one and lose two, but those games stretch back to 2018 and 2024. What matters now is that Montreal are conceding at a rate of 2.5 per game away and Seattle are scoring 1.9 at home. The full 10-meeting aggregate spans 11 years and sees Montreal with 6 wins to Seattle's 3, but that's history, not a trend.
The counter-argument? Seattle did drop their last game, 0-1 at Dallas, and the xG data shows they were actually outperformed in that one — 1.82 xG for against 0.97 for Dallas. So they're not perfect, and a loss is a loss. And Montreal did beat FC Cincinnati 3-1 at home three weeks ago, so they can still score. But that was at home, and the last two games have been a different story entirely. Their away record of 4 wins from 20 is the real tell here.
Key Points:
- Seattle Sounders have won 4 of their last 5, scoring 10 and conceding just 3
- CF Montreal have lost their last 2, scoring 1 and conceding 5
- Seattle's home record: 12W 3D 5L over 20 games, 1.9 goals scored per game
- Montreal's away record: 4W 2D 14L over 20 games, 2.5 goals conceded per game
- Head-to-head is historical (no meetings in 12 months), so current form and venue records carry the weight
I'm going with the Seattle Sounders home win at 1.52. The market prices them at 65.79%, but the form, the home record and Montreal's away struggles point to a higher chance than that. This is a straightforward one.
