Let's cut straight to the numbers that matter. Farnham Town have won 13 of their last 20 home games, drawn 3 and lost 4, averaging 2.1 points per game. They score 1.95 per match at home and concede 1.2. That's a record that doesn't need a lot of dressing up.
Salisbury's away record over 20 games is 4 wins, 6 draws and 10 losses. They average 0.9 points per game on the road, score 1.3 per match and concede 1.5. That's the single most important line in this fixture, and it points one way.
Now I'll give Salisbury credit where it's due. Four wins and a draw in their last five, 13 goals scored and just 2 conceded. The current run of four wins — 12 scored, 1 conceded — is the kind of form that makes you pause. But look at where those wins came from. Five-nil at Dulwich Hamlet, two-nil at Folkestone Invicta, four-one at Taunton Town. Three of those four victories were at home, against opposition that clearly couldn't handle them. Their away results in that same window were a one-nil win at Truro City and a one-all draw at Ebbsfleet United. That's a very different team on the road, and the 20-game away record backs it up.
Farnham Town's last five games: two wins, two draws, one loss. They've scored in all five — 10 goals — and conceded in all five — 9 goals. Both teams scored in every single one, and every one went over 2.5. Over 20 home games, they've failed to score in just one of those 20, and both teams have found the net in 15 of 20. That's a team that's going to put a ball in the back of the net at home, and it's a team that's going to concede.
The head-to-head is blank. No meetings on record. So this is purely a form-and-record contest, and the records point to the home side.
The counter-argument is real and I won't pretend it isn't. Salisbury's defensive record in the last five is exceptional — two conceded in five games. Their last 10 shows 6 wins, 2 draws, 2 losses with 0.8 goals conceded per game. They're not a team that's been leaking. But that defensive solidity has been built at home. Away, over 20 games, they concede 1.5 per game. The gap between their home defensive record and their away defensive record is the whole story in one sentence.
Key Points:
- Farnham Town: 13W 3D 4L in 20 home games, 2.1 PPG, 1.95 scored per game, 1.2 conceded per game
- Salisbury: 4W 6D 10L in 20 away games, 0.9 PPG, 1.3 scored per game, 1.5 conceded per game
- Salisbury's 4-win run includes 3 home wins with big margins; away form in that window was 1W 1D
- Farnham Town have scored in 19 of 20 home games and in all 5 of their last 5 matches
- No head-to-head meetings on record
The market prices Farnham Town at 2.38, implying a 42.02% chance. My read, grounded in the home and away records and the fact that Salisbury's recent form is heavily home-weighted, puts the true probability closer to 48%. That's a genuine edge, and at 2.38 the price is doing the work. Odds don't lie — but bookies do, and this one's a little off.
Verdict: Farnham Town home win at 2.38.
