Alright, let's get stuck into this one. We've got Rochdale hosting Shrewsbury in League Two, and if you're looking for a bit of action, you might be in the right place. Rochdale have had a proper nightmare of a start to the season, sitting at the bottom of the table with zero wins from their opening three fixtures. They’re conceding a lot—over two goals a game on average—and their defense looks like it’s got more holes than a block of Swiss cheese. That 3-0 drubbing at the hands of Newport County is a prime example of how much they're struggling to keep the ball out of the net.
On the other side, Shrewsbury haven't been exactly world-beaters on the road either. While they managed to nick a 1-0 win against Salford City, they're often found wanting when they travel, conceding a whopping 2.40 goals per game away from home. They were also left looking a bit shell-shocked after a 4-0 loss to Fleetwood in the cup, showing they can be vulnerable when the pressure is on.
The numbers are screaming for goals here, mate. The goal expectancy for this fixture is sitting at a healthy 3.85, which is well above the Over 2.5 line. Rochdale’s home record shows they’re putting two goals in the net but letting in 2.50. Shrewsbury, while not the most prolific travelers, are likely to find the net against a Rochdale side that hasn't kept a clean sheet in their last ten outings.
The H2H gives us a bit of a mixed bag, but the current form is the real story. Both teams are desperate for points, and that often leads to more open play as they push forward. With Rochdale's defense leaking and Shrewsbury's away form being what it is, we're looking at a game where the ball will be in the net more often than not. It’s a classic case of two sides struggling to keep it tight, which usually means the fans get a treat.
Key Points:
- Rochdale have won 0 of their last 10 games and have 0 points from 3 league matches.
- Rochdale concede 2.20 goals per game on average, including a 3-0 loss to Newport.
- Shrewsbury concede 2.40 goals per game when playing away from home.
- The goal expectancy for this fixture is 3.85, suggesting a high-scoring affair.
- Rochdale have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last 10 matches.
I'm backing the goals to fly in for this one.
Recommended Bet: Over 2.5 Goals
