Right, so we've got Sarasota Paradise hosting Naples on 21 October in USL League One, and if you want to know where I'm heading, the numbers are doing a lot of the talking for me.
Sarasota Paradise at home are in a good old state of form. Over their last 20 home games they've won 9, drawn 3 and lost 8, and they're scoring 1.75 goals a game. That's a solid home record, and it's been backed up in recent weeks: they've won 4 of their last 5 matches, scoring 18 goals in the process. The 6โ0 over Greenville Triumph on 19 September and the 3โ2 against Richmond Kickers on 10 October show they're not just winning โ they're scoring in heaps at home. Their current run is two wins, and they've scored 6 and conceded 3 in those.
Now, Naples are no pushovers. They've won their last four, conceding just a single goal in those games. That's a tidy little run, and it's got them looking sharp. But here's the thing: three of those four wins came at home. Their most recent away result was a 1โ0 at Corpus Christi on 11 October, and before that a 2โ2 at Fort Wayne on 19 September. And if you look at their last 20 away games, it's 3 wins, 3 draws and 14 losses. Fourteen losses. That's the number that keeps me up at night for the away side. They're scoring 0.8 per game on the road, which is not a lot when you're facing a team that's putting up 1.75 at home.
The head-to-head is a bit of a split. In the last 12 months they've met twice, both at Naples's ground โ Sarasota Paradise won 2โ0 in June, Naples won 2โ0 in April. No recent meeting at this ground, so we're in uncharted territory for the current cycle. There was an older meeting here in March 2025 (Sarasota Paradise lost 1โ2 in the US Open Cup), but that's historical and doesn't really factor in.
The best counter-argument I can see is Naples' recent defensive work. Three clean sheets in five games, and in their last 10 they've conceded 0.9 per game โ which is actually better than Sarasota Paradise's 1.3. So they're not the team that's about to get opened up like a tin of sardines. They're keeping it tight.
But the scoring gap is the real story. Sarasota Paradise are scoring 2.6 per game in their last 10; Naples are on 1.2. At home, Sarasota Paradise score 1.75; Naples away score 0.8. That's a big gap, and it's the kind of thing that tends to tip the balance.
Key Points:
- Sarasota Paradise: 9 wins in 20 home games, 1.75 goals per game
- Naples: 14 losses in 20 away games, 0.8 goals per game
- Both in good recent form, but Naples' run is built mostly at home
- H2H split in the last 12 months; no recent meeting at this ground
- Naples' recent defensive record (3 clean sheets in 5) is a genuine concern
The bookies have Sarasota Paradise at 1.95, which works out to about a 51% chance in their eyes. My own read, looking at the home record, the away record and the scoring gap, puts the home side closer to 56%. That's a small edge, but it's there, and the football backs it up.
My tip: Sarasota Paradise home win at 1.95.
