Arges Pitesti host CFR 1907 Cluj at their ground on 10 October in Liga I, and the numbers tell a story that the market hasn't fully priced in. The visitors arrive as the underdog at 2.95, but the football evidence paints a picture of a team in genuine command.
CFR 1907 Cluj's away record over the last 20 games is the most telling figure here: 9 wins, 4 draws and 7 losses, with 1.3 goals scored per game and only 3 of those 20 matches ending without them finding the net. Their recent form is even more encouraging — 3 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss in their last five, scoring 10 goals and conceding 7. They came in hot with a 3–1 home win over FC Botosani on 19 September, and before that a 3–1 away win at Sepsi OSK Sfantu Gheorghe on 1 September. The current run is a win, and the scoring output of 2.0 goals per game in that stretch is hard to ignore.
The head-to-head at this venue adds weight. In the two recent meetings at Arges Pitesti's ground, CFR 1907 Cluj won 1–0 on 17 April 2026 and lost 0–3 on 29 November 2025. The most recent meeting at this ground went to the visitors, and the full head-to-head across 14 meetings (mostly historical) shows CFR 1907 Cluj winning 10 of those 14, with Arges Pitesti failing to score in 9 of 14. That's a fixture where the visitors have historically had the upper hand.
The counter-argument is Arges Pitesti's home defence. Over 20 home games they've conceded just 1.1 per game and kept 5 clean sheets. They also won 3–0 here in November 2025, and their home matches tend to be low-scoring — only 6 of 20 have gone over 2.5 goals. Their last game was a 0–0 draw against Slatina on 3 October, and they've failed to score in 2 of their last 5. That defensive solidity at home could make this a tight, low-scoring affair.
But the balance tips away from Arges. Their recent form is poor — 1 win, 2 draws and 2 losses in the last five, scoring just 0.8 per game. They've lost to Rapid 3–1 and FC Voluntari 1–0 on the road, and the 0–0 draw that ends their current run suggests a side struggling to break down opponents. Against a Cluj side that has scored 13 goals in their last 10 games across all venues, Arges's defensive record at home may not be enough to contain them.
Key Points:
- CFR 1907 Cluj have won 9 of their last 20 away games, scoring 1.3 per game and failing to score in only 3 of those 20.
- Arges Pitesti's recent form is 1W 2D 2L in 5, with a 0–0 draw ending their current run.
- The most recent meeting at Arges Pitesti's ground (17 April 2026) was a 0–1 CFR 1907 Cluj win.
- Arges Pitesti's home matches are low-scoring: only 6 of 20 have gone over 2.5 goals.
- CFR 1907 Cluj have scored 10 goals in their last 5 games, conceding just 7.
The underdog has the edge here. I'm backing the away win for CFR 1907 Cluj.
