Oh, what a delightful bottom-of-the-table clash we have here! Two little puppies fighting for their lives, but I've spotted which one has the bigger bite in this particular setting. Let me tell you why Norwich, despite being the underdog, might just steal this show!
Looking at the recent form, both teams are struggling, but there's a fascinating pattern emerging. Derby have become the draw specialists with five draws in their last ten games, including three 1-1 stalemates at home against Southampton, Charlton, and Bristol City. However, their home form tells a worrying story - zero wins in their last five home matches! That's right, not a single victory on their own patch.
Now, let's talk about our underdog heroes Norwich. While their overall form looks shaky, their away performances tell a completely different story. They've secured two impressive away victories at Blackburn (0-2) and Portsmouth (1-2), plus a creditable draw at Stoke City (1-1). That's a 40% win rate on the road compared to Derby's 0% at home!
The head-to-head history really catches my eye too. Derby's home record against Norwich reads: 0 wins, 2 draws, 2 losses. Our Norwich pups seem to enjoy their trips to Derby!
Statistically, Norwich actually outperform Derby when comparing away vs home form. Norwich score 1.40 goals per game away while conceding just 1.20. Derby at home manage only 1.20 goals scored but leak 1.80. Those numbers don't lie!
Both teams are on 8 points, but Norwich have played one game fewer, suggesting they might have slightly more potential. With Derby struggling to convert home draws into wins and Norwich showing real teeth on their travels, I see value in backing the visitors.
Sometimes the best underdog stories come from teams that everyone has written off, and Norwich's away form gives them the perfect platform to surprise everyone here!
