The numbers in this fixture tell a story that doesn't need much embellishment. Caerau (Ely) have won both of their recent meetings with Aberystwyth Town, and the most telling one was right here at Aberystwyth Town's ground in March 2026 — a 4–0 away win that left the hosts without a single goal. The other meeting, at Caerau's ground in December 2025, was a 1–0 Caerau win. In both games, Aberystwyth Town failed to score. That is not a coincidence; it is a pattern.
Aberystwyth Town arrive with decent recent form — four wins and a draw in their last five, including a 3–1 away win at Pontypridd Town on 3 October and a 4–0 home demolition of llanelli AFC on 31 August. But their home record over 20 games is 8 wins, 5 draws and 7 losses, and they have failed to score in 8 of those 20 home fixtures. The 0–0 draw with Swansea University on 25 September, just two weeks ago, is a reminder that their home output can go quiet.
Caerau (Ely) are in the form of their lives. They are on a four-game winning run, scoring 11 and conceding just 3 across those matches. Their away record over 20 games is 9 wins, 3 draws and 8 losses, with 2.2 goals scored per game. In their last 10 matches, they have scored in every single game — zero failures to score. That is a team that is going to find the net regardless of where they are playing.
The counter-argument is straightforward: Aberystwyth Town have won four of their last five, and their home defence has been solid, conceding just 1.2 goals per game over 20 home fixtures. They have kept clean sheets in 8 of those 20. If they park the bus and absorb pressure, a draw or a narrow home win is not out of the question. The 0–0 with Swansea University shows they can shut a game down.
But the head-to-head at this venue is 0–4. The away side's scoring record is 2.2 per game. The home side failed to score in the only previous meeting at this ground. The market prices Caerau's win at 38.02%, but the football evidence points to a higher probability. I rate Caerau's chance of winning at around 44%, which sits comfortably above the market's implied figure. The bookies have this one slightly wrong, and that is where the value lives.
