G'day, it's Pajimon here. We’re looking at a Serie A clash where the gulf in class is wider than a braai grill. Chapecoense-sc sit dead last on nine points after 18 matches, while Flamengo are firmly planted in second place with 34. This isn’t a guessing game; it’s a mismatch waiting to happen.
Flamengo’s trajectory is straight up. They’ve picked up 20 points from their last 10 games, scoring 18 goals at an average of 1.80 per outing. Their attack has been clicking, recently putting four past Olimpia and two past Benfica in friendlies, while maintaining a solid 1.10 goals conceded per game over the same stretch. On the flip side, Chapecoense-sc are grinding out results in the relegation zone. They’ve only managed three wins in their last 10, scoring 13 and conceding 14. Their home form shows a 50% win rate, but they’ve dropped points in four of their last six league matches, including a 2-0 defeat to Bahia just days ago.
History doesn’t lie either. In their last 10 meetings, Flamengo have won seven, with Chapecoense managing just one victory. That historical dominance translates to a 70% win rate for the visitors in this fixture. When these two cross paths, goals tend to follow, with Over 2.5 Goals landing in seven of the last ten encounters. Flamengo’s away scoring average is currently sitting at 1.00, but against a Chapecoense defense that concedes 1.40 goals per game overall, that number is set to climb.
The market has priced this at 1.48 for an away win, which implies a 67.6% probability. When you stack the table position, the 20-point gap, the recent goal output, and the H2H record, the real probability sits comfortably above 75%. That gives us a clear mathematical edge. Poisson modeling points to a total of roughly 2.91 goals, with Flamengo expected to net 1.12 against Chapecoense’s 1.79, but the defensive mismatch heavily favors the visitors to cover the spread and take all three points. Fatigue isn’t a factor here, with both sides having five days of rest, so the sharper squad and superior tactical setup will dictate the tempo.
Key Points:
- Flamengo sit second in Serie A with 34 points, a massive 25-point gap over 20th-placed Chapecoense-sc.
- The visitors have won 7 of the last 10 head-to-head meetings, dominating the historical record.
- Flamengo average 1.80 goals scored per game over their last 10 fixtures, while Chapecoense concede 1.40 per game.
- The 1.48 odds for an away win represent a clear value bet given the 75%+ implied success rate based on current form and H2H data.
- Both teams have five days of rest, eliminating fatigue as a variable for this fixture.
I’m backing Flamengo to secure the away victory. The form gap is too steep, the head-to-head record is too strong, and the odds offer genuine value. I’m taking the Away Win at 1.48.
