Look, I'll be straight with you – when I cracked open a cold one and dug into this fixture, the numbers painted a picture that's hard to look past. Buxton have won 11 of their last 20 away games, sitting on 1.8 points per game and scoring 1.65 a match on the road. That is a team that travels well, like a proper braai that's got the coals glowing no matter where you set it up. They pack the heat and show up ready to cook.
King's Lynn Town, on the other hand, have won just 6 of their last 20 home games. Six. That's 1.2 points per game and 1.15 goals a match at their own ground. When your home record looks like a cold braai with no coals under it, you've got a problem, and I'm not gonna sugarcoat it.
Now I'll give King's Lynn their due. They've won 3 of their last 5, including that 5-0 away hammering of AFC Telford United on 26 September. They're on a one-game winning run and they beat Buxton 3-2 at this very ground back in November 2025. The head-to-head in the last 12 months is 2-0 to King's Lynn, and at this venue the only recent meeting went their way. So there's a case to be made that the home side knows how to handle Buxton here.
But here's the thing that keeps me up at night – Buxton's last two games were ugly. They lost 0-2 at home to South Shields in the FA Cup on 3 October and 0-4 away at South Shields on 26 September. Six goals conceded, zero scored. That's a concerning dip and I'm not going to pretend it doesn't exist. Two bad games in a row, both against the same opponent, and the confidence might be a bit wobbly.
Still, when you look at the 20-game away record – 11 wins, 3 draws, 6 losses – that's the real picture. Two bad games don't erase 11 away victories. And King's Lynn's home record of 6 wins in 20 is the weakest single data point in this fixture. The market has Buxton at 36.76% for the win, but I think the road record pushes that a touch higher. I'd rate Buxton's chance at around 38%, which edges past the price on offer at 2.72.
Key Points:
- Buxton have won 11 of 20 away games (1.8 ppg, 1.65 goals per game)
- King's Lynn Town have won 6 of 20 home games (1.2 ppg, 1.15 goals per game)
- Buxton lost their last 2 games (0-2, 0-4), both against South Shields
- King's Lynn won both recent head-to-head meetings (3-2 at home, 2-1 away)
- Buxton's 20-game away record is the strongest single data point in this fixture
So here's my call: I'm going with the Buxton away win.
