Right, so we've got Huracan at home against Gimnasia L.P., and if I'm being honest, this one's got a bit of a puzzle to it.
Gimnasia L.P. are the story here. Four games, four draws. That's a run that's got them scoring in every single one of their last five matches – 1-1 against Tucuman, 1-1 at Independiente Rivadavia, 2-2 with Banfield, 1-1 at Argentinos JRS, and 2-1 against Tigre. No loss in five, and not one of those games has gone without a Gimnasia goal. Their away record over the last 20 games shows 11 of 20 with both teams finding the net, and they've scored in 15 of those 20 away fixtures. That's a team that's going to put a ball in the net, even when they're on the road.
Huracan, on the other hand, have been solid at home. Over 20 home games, they've kept 9 clean sheets and conceded just 0.8 a game. They've won 9 of those 20, drawn 5, and lost 6. But here's the wrinkle: their last outing was a 0-2 defeat at Barracas Central on 10 October, and before that they'd won three in a row – 1-0 against Aldosivi, 2-1 at River Plate, and 2-1 against Racing Club. So they're not in crisis, but that blank sheet at Barracas does raise a question about whether they'll find the net at home.
The head-to-head is interesting. The only meeting within the last 12 months was back on 5 April at Gimnasia's ground, and Huracan won 3-0. At Huracan's own ground, the older meetings show a 2-0 Huracan win in 2023 and a 0-0 draw in 2024. So the recent history leans Huracan's way at this venue, though those older games are historical record and don't tell you much about what's happening right now.
The matchup table is almost eerily symmetrical. Both teams sit on 9 wins, 5 draws and 6 losses in their respective home and away records over 20 games, with identical 1.6 points per game. Where they split is in the goals: Gimnasia score 1.2 a game away while Huracan manage 0.95 at home, and Huracan concede 0.8 while Gimnasia let in 1.2. So Huracan's defence is the tighter unit, but Gimnasia's attack is the sharper one.
The counter-argument to a goals fest is real. Huracan's last 10 games have seen under 2.5 in 8 of 10, and their home record is 13 of 20 under 2.5. Gimnasia's away record is 11 of 20 under 2.5. And that 0-2 loss at Barracas showed Huracan can go a game without finding the net. So there's a genuine case for a low-scoring affair.
But here's what tips it for me: Gimnasia have scored in all five of their last games, and in 15 of their last 20 away fixtures. Huracan have scored in 13 of their last 20 home games. The H2H over 18 meetings has seen both teams score in 8 of those 18. When a team is scoring in every game and the opposition is scoring in the majority of their home fixtures, the odds of both finding the net start to look good. The market prices both teams to score at 2.06, which implies about 48.54%, and I'd put my own estimate a touch higher than that, around 52%. That's a small but real edge, and it's the one I'm happy to take.
Key Points:
- Gimnasia L.P. have scored in all 5 of their last matches and 15 of their last 20 away games
- Huracan have scored in 13 of their last 20 home games but went blank at Barracas Central on 10 October
- Both teams share identical 9W 5D 6L records in their home/away 20-game spans
- The only recent H2H meeting (5 April 2026) ended 0-3 to Huracan at Gimnasia's ground
- Gimnasia's four-draw run means they haven't lost in 5 but have kept scoring in every one
My pick: both teams to score at 2.06.
