Alright lads, let's have a proper gander at this one. On paper, it looks like a mismatch of epic proportions. Sporting CP B are sitting pretty at the top of the table, having lost just twice all season and rattling in 21 goals in their last 10 games. They're absolutely flying, winning 80% of their matches and looking every bit the promotion contenders.
Penafiel, on the other hand, are plodding along in mid-table. They've had some decent moments - that 3-1 win at Vizela was proper tasty - but overall they're struggling for consistency. The big worry for the home fans has to be their form at their own patch. They've only won 25% of their last 4 home games and are scoring just 0.75 goals per game in front of their own supporters. That's not going to cut it against the league leaders.
Now, I know what you're thinking - 'But Mr Simple, what about the head-to-head?' And fair play, Penafiel have a perfect 4-0 record against Sporting CP B. But hold your horses - those matches were all back in 2016-2018. We're talking ancient history here, especially with B teams where the lads coming through change faster than the weather.
Sporting CP B's away form is absolutely sensational - 80% win rate on their travels, averaging 2 goals per game. They're scoring for fun and keeping things tight at the back. Penafiel simply don't score enough at home to trouble a side this good.
The goal expectancy numbers tell the story - Penafiel are expected to score less than a goal, while Sporting should get around 1.5. When you look at the form, the league position, and how these teams are playing right now, there's really only one outcome that makes sense.
