Toluca take on Atletico San Luis on 18 October in the Liga MX, and the numbers are screaming one thing: goals.
Start with Toluca at home. Over their last 20 home games, they've won 12, drawn 3 and lost 5, scoring 2.3 per game and conceding just 0.95. That's a solid home record, and the attack is the real story — 46 goals in 20 home games. Even in their rough recent patch, Toluca have been involved in goals: four of their last five matches went over 2.5, and they've scored 9 and conceded 11 in that stretch. The defence is leaking, sure, but the forwards are still finding the net.
Now flip to Atletico San Luis on the road. Over their last 20 away games, they've won 6, drawn 4 and lost 10, and they've conceded 2 per game on the road. Four of their last five matches also went over 2.5. They've had some bright moments — a 3–2 away win at Pumas on 27 September and a 3–1 home win over Necaxa on 19 September — but they've also been torn apart, losing 0–3 to Chivas at home on 5 September and 0–2 at Leon on 15 September.
The head-to-head is mostly historical. The only meeting within the last 12 months was a 1–1 draw at Toluca's ground in April 2026. Before that, Toluca won all four older meetings, including a 5–1 away win at San Luis's ground in April 2024. So the recent form suggests a cagey affair, but in those older meetings, Toluca scored heavily against this side.
The counter-argument is that Toluca's last two games have been losses — 2–3 at Tigres on 10 October and 2–3 at home to Santos Laguna on 21 September — and the only recent meeting between these two was a 1–1 draw. That suggests the visitors can at least get a goal on the road, and that Toluca's attack might not be as sharp as their home record suggests. Atletico San Luis have also won two of their last three before the Santos Laguna defeat, so they're not without a spark.
Key Points:
My pick: over 2.5 goals.
