Look, I'll be honest with you – this one's got me scratching my head in the best way. Tottenham at home against Coventry, and the market is screaming Tottenham at 1.54, but the football on the ground tells a very different story.
Tottenham have not won a game in their last five. Three draws and two losses, scoring just four goals and conceding seven. They drew 1-1 at Manchester United on 10 October, lost 2-3 to Aston Villa at home on 19 September, lost 1-3 to Liverpool in the League Cup on 15 September, and managed two 0-0 draws against Everton on 12 September and Nottingham Forest on 5 September. That's a team that's struggling to find a rhythm, and their home record over 20 games – 6 wins, 7 draws, 7 losses – isn't exactly what you'd expect from a Premier League side at home.
Now look at Coventry. They've won their last two games – 4-1 against Newcastle at home on 12 October and 1-0 at Nottingham Forest away on 19 September – scoring five and conceding just one in that run. Their away record over 20 games is 7 wins, 6 draws, 7 losses, with 1.1 goals conceded per game and 7 clean sheets. That's a solid away record, and it actually edges Tottenham's home numbers on points per game (1.35 to 1.25) and on goals conceded (1.1 to 1.55).
The head-to-head is dated – the last meeting was back in September 2024 in the League Cup, and before that, January 2013 in the FA Cup. Tottenham won both, but that's 11 years of history and tells us nothing about what's happening right now.
The counter-argument is straightforward: Coventry have lost three of their last five, including a 0-5 defeat to Brighton on 13 September and a 0-1 loss to Manchester City on 5 September. And Tottenham are at home, where the market sees them as heavy favourites. But when your last five games are three draws and two losses with zero wins, being at home doesn't fix everything.
Key Points:
My verdict: Coventry away win at 7.00.
