Ally Pally, only bigger
There's nothing in sport quite like Alexandra Palace in December. The fancy dress, the walk-ons, the noise when someone leaves 170 and then takes it out. For punters it's the highlight of the darts calendar: three weeks, 128 players and a market on just about everything that moves.
This year it's bigger than ever. The 2026/27 Paddy Power World Darts Championship moves into Ally Pally's Great Hall for the first time after 19 years in the West Hall, and 180,000 tickets are being shared out by ballot. It's the 20th staging at the venue and the 34th PDC World Championship.
At the centre of it all is Luke Littler. Still only 19, the world number one took Gian van Veen apart 7-1 in last season's final to go back-to-back, and he arrives as the man everyone else is measured against. Luke Humphries, fresh from winning the World Grand Prix, is the obvious challenger, with van Veen and Gerwyn Price not far behind.
Below we cover the dates, the all-sets format, the £5 million prize fund, the contenders and the markets where we think the value sits. New to the sport? Our darts betting guide covers the basics first.
