Let's cut through the noise on this one. FC Cincinnati are at home, and their home record over the last 20 games is 12 wins, 3 draws and 5 losses, averaging 1.95 points per game and scoring 2.75 goals per match. New England Revolution, on the other hand, have won just 6 of their last 20 away games, with 11 losses, and they average 1.35 goals per game on the road. That's a gap the matchup table makes painfully clear: Cincinnati score more than double what New England manage away, and they concede fewer goals (1.8 per game at home versus 1.85 for New England on the road). When you stack those numbers side by side, the home side is the one with the edge, and it's not a close call.
Now, the counter-argument. FC Cincinnati's last five matches have been 1 win, 2 draws and 2 losses. They were demolished 0–5 by Philadelphia Union on 9 September (with a red card in the 16th minute) and lost 1–3 at CF Montreal on 26 September. That's a team that can be vulnerable on the road. New England, meanwhile, won three of their last five before the last two games — a 4–2 home win over Orlando City and two 2–1 away victories — but then went blank in both of those final fixtures, losing 0–3 at home to Seattle Sounders on 10 October and 0–3 at Real Salt Lake on 27 September. Their current run is two straight losses, conceding six and scoring nothing. So the visitors arrive with a fragile confidence and a defence that has been leaking.
The head-to-head at this specific venue is thin. There have been no meetings at FC Cincinnati's ground within the last 12 months. Both recent meetings between these two sides have been at New England's ground — a 6–1 Revolution win on 15 March and a 1–1 draw on 23 January. The 6–1 result is a cautionary tale, but it's at the reverse venue and it's seven months old. The older meetings at Cincinnati's ground (1–0 and 1–2) are historical record, not current form, and I won't build a case on them.
What I will build on is the xG picture. Over six recent games with data, FC Cincinnati have generated 1.82 xG per game and faced 1.61 xG against. New England have produced 1.87 xG per game but faced only 1.04 xG against. That defensive xG figure for New England is encouraging for them in isolation, but it's been tested against teams that haven't punished them as harshly as the last two 0–3 results suggest. Combined, the two sides are creating roughly 3.7 xG per game between them, which points toward a scoring affair.
The market prices FC Cincinnati's win at 2.08, implying a 48.08% chance. My read, based on the home record, the away record, and the fact that New England have failed to score in their last two games while conceding six, puts Cincinnati's probability closer to 55%. That's a meaningful gap from the bookmaker's number, and it's the kind of edge I live for. The price is doing the work here — you're getting a fair shot at a team whose home numbers are genuinely strong against a side that struggles on the road.
Key Points:
- FC Cincinnati's home record: 12W 3D 5L in 20 games, 2.75 goals scored per game
- New England's away record: 6W 3D 11L in 20 games, 1.35 goals scored per game
- New England have failed to score in their last two matches, conceding 6 goals
- No recent head-to-head meetings at FC Cincinnati's ground; both recent meetings (March and January 2026) were at New England's ground, with a 6–1 Revolution win and a 1–1 draw
- Both teams' venue records show 15 of 20 games over 2.5 goals
My pick: FC Cincinnati home win at 2.08.
