The Big O here, and I'm telling you, this one's got the smell of goals in the air. Kalmar FF host IF Brommapojkarna on 24 October in the Allsvenskan, and while Kalmar's recent form has been a bit of a nil-nil nightmare, the numbers at this ground and on the road for the visitors are singing a different tune.
Kalmar's last five games have been grim — one win, one draw, three losses, and they failed to score in four of those five. The 0–5 thrashing at home by BK Hacken on 20 September stings, and the 0–0 at Norrkoping two weeks ago wasn't exactly the kind of football I want to watch. But here's the thing: over the last 20 home games, spanning 12 months, Kalmar have gone over 2.5 goals in 15 of those 20. That's three-quarters of their home fixtures producing a goal feast. The 0–5 Hacken game was one of those, and the 2–1 win at Degerfors on 19 October showed they can still find the net when it matters.
Now look at IF Brommapojkarna on the road. Over 20 away games, 16 of them have gone over 2.5. That's 80%. Their last two away trips — the 6–5 thriller at AIK on 10 October and the 1–3 loss at Hammarby on 13 September — both delivered the goods. In their last five matches, three have gone over 2.5, and they've been involved in 21 goals across those games (9 scored, 12 conceded). This is a team that doesn't do quiet.
The head-to-head at this venue in the last 12 months was a 2–0 Kalmar win on 27 June, and the reverse fixture at IFB's ground on 17 May was 1–0. Both were low-scoring, and I'll give you that. But that's two meetings, and the broader venue records — 75% and 80% over 2.5 — are the numbers that matter when you're hunting for value. The older head-to-head games, reaching back to 2018, are historical and don't tell us much about what's coming on 24 October.
The counter-argument is real. Kalmar's recent form is ugly — 0.4 goals per game in their last five, and they've failed to score in four of those five. Their xG against in the last three games with data was just 0.92 per game, which suggests a tight defensive shape. IFB's xG against in their last two games was 1.97 per game, but they actually conceded 7 in those two, so the defence is leaking. Still, Kalmar's recent inability to score is a genuine concern for the over, and I won't pretend it isn't.
Key Points:
- Kalmar FF's last 20 home games: 15/20 went over 2.5 goals
- IF Brommapojkarna's last 20 away games: 16/20 went over 2.5 goals
- IFB's last 5 matches: 3/5 over 2.5, with 21 total goals involved
- Kalmar FF's last 5 matches: only 2/5 over 2.5, with a 4-game scoring drought
- Recent head-to-head at this venue (27 June): 2–0, a low-scoring affair
The Big O's verdict: Over 2.5 goals at 1.71. The venue records are screaming goals, and while Kalmar's recent form is a bit of a damp squib, the 75% and 80% figures at these grounds are hard to ignore. Life's too short for nil-nil, and this one's got the ingredients for a proper goal fest.
