NEC FC were founded in 2017 and gained promotion to the FUFA 5th Division League in 2018 under the Nakawa Football Association. In 2019 they went up to the Kampala Regional League, and by 2022 they were in the FUFA Big League, where they finished third with 57 points from 30 games. That earned them a first place in the Uganda Premier League, for the 2023/24 season.
NEC FC play at the MTN Omondi Stadium in Lugogo, which holds 10,000, their base since arriving in the Uganda Premier League. Before that, during the 2022/23 FUFA Big League season, they hosted matches on the Coffee grounds in Bugolobi.
