Bonuses
We read the full terms of the welcome offer and any regular promotions: size of the match, minimum deposit, rollover and what it applies to, minimum odds, time limit, and eligible markets. A big headline is only worth something if the terms are fair, so we score the terms as well as the figure.
Markets
We look at how many sports are covered and how deep the football coverage goes: league range, in-play betting, bet builders, player markets, handicaps and cash out where offered. We also note streaming and the quality of the live section.
Odds value
We take the 1X2 prices on several top-flight football matches and work out the bookmaker's margin, using the sum of the implied probabilities minus 100%. A lower margin means better value over time. We record the matches and the date, because prices move.
Mobile app
We check whether there are native iOS and Android apps or a fully featured mobile site, and whether the main features work on a phone: betting, cash out, payments, account security and notifications. App store ratings are noted where they exist.
Payments
We list the deposit and withdrawal methods, minimum amounts, any fees, and the payout times the operator states. Verification checks are normal and we treat them as such, but we do note how clear the operator is about them.
We confirm the licence and operator company on the regulator's register, then look at the safer gambling toolkit: deposit, loss and session limits, reality checks, time-outs, self-exclusion, and account security such as two-factor authentication. Support options and the clarity of the terms feed into this area too.
