Nashville SC
Nashville sealed their first Supporters' Shield on Saturday 24 October 2026 with a 2-0 win at CF Montreal, Sam Surridge scoring on 51 minutes and Hany Mukhtar on 76. Nobody in MLS has more wins (21), fewer goals conceded (23) or a better goal difference (+43). Surridge has 18 goals, Mukhtar 17, and Cristian Espinoza has chipped in 14 assists in his first season at the club.
BJ Callaghan's side have also equalled the league records for home wins (14) and consecutive home wins (10). Their first trophy was the US Open Cup in 2025, and the Shield brings a 2027 Concacaf Champions Cup place with it. On 71 points, four from their last two games would beat Inter Miami's single-season record of 74, set in 2024.
Vancouver Whitecaps
The best team in the West: 67 scored, only 33 conceded. Vancouver lost the 2025 MLS Cup final to Miami, so they know the road. Their +34 goal difference is second only to Nashville's, and at 9/2 they're the clear second favourites.
Inter Miami CF
The holders score for fun. Seventy-five goals, the most in the East, with Messi scoring 25 of them. They've also conceded 55 and drawn 11 times, and their 2026 highlights reel includes a 6-4 win over Philadelphia on 24 May and a 7-1 thrashing of Montreal on 29 August. Great entertainment, and a lot less reliable in a one-off knockout game than the price suggests.
New England Revolution
Second in the East on 58 points, with 18 wins. USMNT goalkeeper Matt Turner made the Team of the Matchday on Matchday 32 after a 2-1 win at Philadelphia. The draw is the real selling point: the No. 2 seed sits in the other half from Nashville, so if New England hold second they wouldn't meet them until the Eastern Conference Final.
The chasing pack
FC Dallas have Petar Musa (22 goals) and defender Osaze Urhoghide, a Defender of the Year candidate. St. Louis put together the longest unbeaten run of the season, 19 games from 9 May to 14 October, though they were beaten 3-0 at Real Salt Lake on Matchday 32. LAFC have conceded only 35, the second-best record in the West. Chicago have Robert Lewandowski, and Orlando have Antoine Griezmann.
