Cash Out Calculator

Estimate the hedge stake needed to lock in profit or cut risk after a price move. This is especially useful for exchange users comparing a fair hedge against a bookmaker's own cash out offer.

How the hedge works

Back high, hedge lower

If you back a selection at bigger odds and the price shortens, you can usually hedge at the new price and lock in a guaranteed profit.

Exchange-style formula

Hedge stake = (back stake × back odds) / (current odds - commission)

The calculator uses that structure, so it works well for exchange hedging and as a benchmark for judging bookmaker cash out offers.

When to use it

  • In-play trading: A goal, red card, break of serve, or wicket can move prices enough to create a strong hedge opportunity.
  • Pre-event moves: Early bets often shorten before kick-off, creating a chance to reduce exposure without waiting for the event to start.
  • Offer comparison: Compare your fair hedge against the bookmaker cash out figure instead of accepting it blindly.

Practical notes

  • Commission matters: Even 2% changes the exact hedge stake and the final locked profit.
  • Liquidity matters too: The quoted exchange price is only useful if you can actually get matched for the needed stake.
  • Sometimes the right hedge is no hedge: Locking in a small red number can still be sensible if your view or the match state has changed.
