Understanding Accumulator Bets
What is an Accumulator?
An accumulator (or "acca") is a single bet that combines multiple selections. All selections must win for the bet to pay out. The odds multiply together, giving the potential for much higher returns than single bets - but with higher risk since one loser means the whole bet loses.
How it Works
Total Odds = Leg 1 Odds × Leg 2 Odds × Leg 3 Odds × ...
For example, a treble with odds of 2.0, 3.0, and 1.5 gives total odds of 9.0. A £10 stake would return £90 (£80 profit).
Types of Accumulators
Double (2 legs)
Two selections combined. Both must win.
Treble (3 legs)
Three selections combined. All must win.
Four-fold (4 legs)
Four selections combined. All must win.
Five-fold+ (5+ legs)
Five or more selections. All must win.
Each Way Acca
Two bets: one on all to win, one on all to place. Total stake is doubled.

Example Returns (£10 Stake)
| Acca Type | Example Odds | Total Odds | Return | Profit |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Double | 2.0 + 2.0 | 4.0 | £40 | £30 |
| Treble | 2.0 + 2.0 + 2.0 | 8.0 | £80 | £70 |
| 4-fold | 1.8 + 2.0 + 2.2 + 1.9 | 15.0 | £150 | £140 |
| 5-fold | 2.0 × 5 legs | 32.0 | £320 | £310 |
| 6-fold | 2.0 × 6 legs | 64.0 | £640 | £630 |
Acca Betting Tips
- •Cash Out Strategy: Many bookmakers offer cash out on accumulators. Consider cashing out if most legs have won and you want to secure profit before the final leg.
- •Acca Insurance: Look for bookmakers offering "acca insurance" - money back (usually as a free bet) if one leg lets you down on accumulators with 5+ selections.
- •Odds Boosts: Many bookmakers offer daily acca boosts (e.g., "10% boost on 3+ fold accas") - take advantage of these for extra value.
- •Don't Chase Big Odds: While 10-folds offer huge returns, the probability of winning decreases exponentially with each leg added. Balance risk vs reward.
- •Each Way Considerations: Each way accumulators can provide a safety net, but remember your stake is doubled and all selections must place for any return.
